Workshop description
Sí, sí, sí! When you step into this lively market you can feel the Dominican rhythm pulsing through all that happens here. From the fruit and vegetable stands outside, to the rows and rows of stalls indoors, ripe with local jewelry and handicrafts, Mercado Modelo, like many markets around the world, provides many opportunites to tell the story of a country and its folks and visitors by spending time drawing there.
While capturing people in motion is often a challenge, this workshop will begin with some pointers about how to let go of the fear of drawing people, how to identify the body language and expedite the essence of how to tell the story of the market.
Learning goals
- Capturing the essence of body language.
- Capturing the essence of a crowd.
- Capturing the essence of expression.
Supply list
A simple pen (marker) and sketchbook. Travel light so as to be able to move about. Color can be added later — though we would not discourage the use of color markers, there is probably not a place to sit with any wet medium. That can be added later.
